Design Wall Monday

Two posts in one day.  I must be slow at the office!!

I have admired a lot of design walls that are posted on Judy L's blog and finally decided to add myself to her list.
Here's what's on my wall today.

I just can't seem to get myself to do anything with these blocks. They've been on my design wall since I posted them for Judy's UFO challenge. I cant' decide if I want her to pull their number sooner or later.

I have a few more made.  I could go a little bigger or sew them together and call it quits.  At this stage it measures about 36" square.  I have enough fabric to border it but I am a little off put by the dark orange logs next to the centers in some of the blocks.  What do you think?

  1. I like it! The differences in the orange blocks makes it quirky in the nicest way and keeps it from being just another log cabin quilt.

  2. Before I even read your post, I didn't notice those darker orange pieces, so I guess my vote is to leave it the way it is!

  3. I like them too. I think they add depth to the design. You should keep them.

  4. I like the layout, but if the orange bugs you, then maybe you should play with some other ideas until you are happy.

  5. I think this is definitely worth finishing. I love the dark orange logs that form the small squares. My only critical comment is that the upper right square should match the other corner squares - it is just too distracting for me to gaze at this interesting composition with that one asymmetry. My guess is that you do have a block to match. Hope that helps! I really like it overall. I would love to see it finished - there is a subtle circle going on in the middle that doesn't detract from the overall composition, and I like the way the slightly darker orange in the corners complements the interesting dark orange squares.

  6. I like it the way it is. Could you quilt it up and use it as a table topper, or couch throw?

  7. Actually I really like it, why not sew it together, put on a couple of broders and quilt it using a really light batting - then use it for a table toppper - surely Halloween or Thanksgiving in someone's house can support a gorgeous orange and charcoal table cloth.

I am sure you could find a buyer on Etsy for it.

  8. Actually I have just had a better idea if you have six of them why not put a small border on each one, back them and quilt them and use them as napkins!!

  9. I'd love to see what would happen to this if you added sashing strips in a dark color, perhaps the darkest one in the grey side? I'll be excited to see how you finish it!
