My Tahoe Retreat

I was in Tahoe for a wonderful retreat May 12.  The day we arrived the weather was gorgeous and warm.  The day we were to leave we were greeted by this!  Now, I'm from Southern California where an extreme weather shift looks like this: 70 degrees today, 66 degrees tomorrow.  Everyone will feel compelled to remark on how chilly it will be tomorrow.  The above scene is just ridiculous.  I read blogs by you midwesterners and your 70 one day and snow the next weather but this was in CALIFORNIA for goodness sake!

Here is what it looked like out the window on our harrowing drive to the Sacramento airport:

And this out the front window:

And this is why I am planning to stay in Southern California where I can count on the weather to be a non-event.

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event.
You go to bed in one kind of a world and
wake up in another quite different,
and if this is not enchantment
then where is it to be found?
