Design Wall Monday

I  finally put all the butterflies for my March UFO on my design wall. I am trying out a bunch of sashing strips to see what I like.  Impera Magna gave me the idea to sash each with a color that complements the butterfly on that block.  I had a lot of fun going through my strip bins and pulling out various fabrics.  I have some more work to do but I think I will have to wait till next weekend when I can pull fabrics in the day light.

This photos also includes more of the clutter that is always on my design wall.  It has become the "Junk Drawer" of my studio. It has little bits of things to give me inspiration, photos of people I love, and tickets, itineraries, just STUFF! Does that happen on your design wall also?

Go to Judy's Design Wall Monday post to see links to some more excellent photos.

  2. I like the sashing idea for the blocks-looking good.
I find I will put up a random block or 2 from other projects on my wall that aren't my main focus so that I don't forget that I have other things going on too and be tempted to start something else. I'm really trying to limit new starts this year-been mostly successful (not 100% -I am human after all).

  7. My design wall looks a lot like yours with magazine pages, sketches and other inspiring bits for future quilts. I just hope we both have enough time to make them all!!

  8. My Design Wall used to look like yours until my office was redecorated and I was given a 5x6' cork board. It is full of all kinds of stuff and only gets cleaned off when there is no open space left, about once a year or two. Love your butterflies.

  9. All my design wall gathers is dust. I tend to lay out everything on the floor and remember I have a design wall belatedly. I love those blocks and the sashings matching the butterflies.
